I was working on a really big update for Halloween, and guess what happened? My trusty MobileStudio Pro decided that it had lived for long enough and finally decided to croak. Now it’s totally unresponsive and won’t start up at all.
Luckily, I have my old Cintiq Companion 2, which still functions…. however, I can’t get it to connect to the Internet. If you remember a couple of months back, I got a new Internet router after a thunderstorm destroyed my old one, and the Cintiq doesn’t want to acknowledge the new router… at least, the network doesn’t show up on the list of available networks. Without the net connection I could use Clip Studio Paint, but I couldn’t access the files on OneDrive.
I’ve been trying for hours to get the Cintic to recognize the wi-fi network, but so far, no luck, I even went so far as to do a clean reboot of the entire Cintiq, but all that accomplished was that I wiped Clip Studio Pain off the device as well, and I can’t re-download it to the Cintiq without an internet connection…
I’m not giving up, but this might take a little time…
I’ve e-mailed Wacom customer support and am waiting for a response. If nothing else, the warranty on my MobileStudio should still be good, so there’s a chance I can get it fixed. Of course, the customer support isn’t really very quick during these Corona times, so… well, the timing wasn’t very good, was it?
I also don’t have much money at the moment, so forget getting a quick replacement while I hopefully get the MobileStudio fixed. My only real shot unless I’m going to be unable to draw anything for weeks is to get the Cintiq up and running. And it SHOULD be possible. I mean, the Cintiq still WORKS. It has a smaller screen and isn’t as good as the MobileStudio, but apart from being too sensitive to touch there’s nothing WRONG with it. If I only manage to connect it to the Internet I’m good.
I’ll keep you updated. Sorry about this! I had really looked forward to launching a Halloween comic too….
But hey. I did manage to write chapter 10 of Holly Potter and the Witching World. You can find it on its own page, on AO3, or on FFN. So that’s SOMETHING.
