I have a… complicated relationship with superheroes. On one hand, I quite like a lot of their comics and stories; I’m a fan of the MCU movies and at least some of the Arrowverse TV series, there have been a few animated movies and series I really loved, I’ve been known to shill out for the occasional Unbeatable Squirrel Girl or Fantastic Four trade, and I’ve even been inspired into creating my own superhero characters… and of course superheroes are PERFECT for hypnofetishy stories…

…but I also think the over-focus on superheroes has seriously hurt the American comic market, and that on the whole superhero fanbases come across as hostile and unwelcoming, the comics (especially Marvel and DC) vanish up their own asses with continuity porn and HUGE EVENTS and single issues where you may get one-tenth of a story (to be continued in the five tie-in comics that don’t feature any characters you’re actually interested in but you still need to read in order to understand anything that’s going on), and the constant resets and reboots and killing off and resurrecting characters, and refusing any permanent development… Yeah. It’s frustrating.

No wonder, perhaps, that I sometimes feel I have a lot to say about superheroes and other heroes. And here’s the category for that.
