Welcome back!! It’s a couple of weeks overdue, because MAN did I underestimate how hard it was getting a site to look anywhere near halfway decent… but we at least managed to launch the new and improved Art of Dina M site during Pride Month! As you can see, there’s a total design overhaul… everything’s a lot pinker, for one thing. The old green theme was largely modeled on the old DeviantArt green (you know, from before they launched Eclipse and kinda screwed up the entire site design), because, well. green is a good colour for art sites. It’s calm and passive without being too cold, and it’s bright and oprimistiv without being pushy. It doesn’t steal attention away from the art like a more active colour might, and it feels friendlier and easier on the eyes than the blinding white or pitch black that you get on a lot of sites. But I think that all in all, while green is a good colour for websites, it doesn’t quite fit THIS one. Pink just felt more… ME.
There’s also a bit of new content to go with the new look! Pretty much all the old stuff is still there, though I’ve rearranged the art galleries a little (and I’m not 100% satisfied with how they are yet, so they might see another, more serious redesign sometime in the future). But I have also added a handy new character page, where you get a list of the more prominent characters of my work, just in case you get confused about who’s who when you read through some of my comics. I also added a support page, but as of yet that’s mostly just a link to my Patreon and Ko-Fi pages.
There’s also a handful of new comics: Aside from a few new one-shot comics on the One-Two Shot page, as well as more one-panel comics with Lady Vidia, we have Chibi-Dina’s New Outfit, which tells the story of… Chibi-Dina’s new outfit. In the Coils of Slethraa is an adaptation of a scene from a prose story by an author called Madcap, and Misfits Managed is a four-panel comic featuring the Misfits from Jem and the Holograms.
Speaking of Jem and the Holograms, there’s a new Dina Recommends post on the blog about the Jem and the Holograms IDW comic. Summed up: It’s good and I revommend it!
One of the biggest changes (maybe) is that I’ve opened for comments on blog posts and updates. There’s even a comment field right here under this very post, so you can let me know what you think of the new site design! If you feel like it, of course. Sadly, the old posts don’t have that because most of them were edited with Elementor, and with Elementor you need to manually add a comments widget on every single page… and frankly I don’t have the patience to do that for a bunch of blog posts. You can still read all my old posts, but only the new ones will feature comments. (I’m also working on a way to add comments to the comics and even the galleries, but that’s a little more work.)
And of course, there’a handful of new single drawings here too. Have a look!
There’ll be more updates and more content coming up in the near future, including more drawings and another Genie Girl Chats! If there’s anything you’d like to see, drop me a line and I’ll… well, I can’t guarantee I’ll grant your every desire or anything, but I’ll at least hear you out!
